The Sony DCR-VX2100 MiniDV camcorder, introduced as a replacement to the DCR-VX2000, features a 58mm aspherical lens, 12x optical zoom, 48x digital zoom, and a 2.5" swivel LCD display. The camcorder is also able to provide digital still images at 640 x 480 resolution. The DCR-VX2100 uses Sony's Advanced HAD megapixel CCD technology to provide crisp images with accurate color and Sony's Super SteadyShot Optical Stabilization System to minimize shake and vibration. Unlike the DCR-VX2000, the DCR-VX2100 features a built-in lens cap and a 1 Lux low-light recording capacity, compared to the DCR-VX2000's 2 Lux. The only drawback to the DCR-VX2100 is that, when compared to competitor models of the same range, it lacks some features such as interchangeable lenses, more advanced audio connections, and the ability to record high-definition video. Overall, the DCR-VX2100 is an excellent prosumer MiniDV camcorder. It its best suited for advanced users who don't necessarily require all the manual controls found in more professional models.
