I purchased an HD 70 as a Chrismas prestent to my wife. After reading reviews, I was expecting a good picture quality with some defects and a sightly clumsy setup. I was willing to deal with it because of the price point. What we got was a picture quality that is about as good as it gets. The picture looks like you're in a cinima and I would have a hard time telling the difference. Combine this with a Sony HT DDW 700 surround sound system for $170 (which is also outstanding) and we have a a complete in home cinima for under $1200. One thing worth mentioning is we clearly have a newer model and there apear to be some improvements. I read the remote is not back lit but ours is. I read about some issues with poor color gradiant and flesh tones but, in five days and about 40 hours of observation, I've not seen this problem (and I've been looking for it). You can cerntainly spend more on a projector but I dought the quality will be noticably better.
