Nostalgic music fans that look back fondly on the radio and TV consoles of the '40s and '50s will delight in the Teac GF-680 stereo system, which combines modern components with a retro design. The system is housed in a classic wooden, four-legged cabinet with old-time speaker panels on the lower front. Above the panels, however, sit all the modern music complements, along with a couple that hark back a few decades. The device is centered around a three-disc drawer-type CD changer for enjoying modern digital formats, along with a three-speed turntable that lets you listen to your original Bowie recordings on vinyl. The most significant modern touch comes in the form of the two-way speaker system, which fortunately sounds nothing like the scratchy speakers of yesteryear. Each speaker boasts a 5.25-inch woofer and a 2-inch tweeter, with a bass boost system adding extra oomph to the lows. In addition, the system offers three preset equalizer settings (for rock, pop, and classic) to round out your music's audio profile.
