I am an audio enthusiast and I love good sound. I will not settle for less. I wanted a cheap solution to replace my old Altec?s with a 4? woofer (sucky) so I decided to give these a try. I plugged them in and the bass is boomy, but I have fixed that problem (see next paragraph). But what I do like, is that the highs are very clear, the speakers play louder than most other systems without distorting, and that the subwoofer is not small, so at good volumes the woofer doesn?t bottom out (pop) so it sounds good at high volumes. To fix that bass problem, I actually replaced the woofer with one from an older 8? woofer and it is much better, I put the speaker stuffing in the box, (there was none) and I cut a washcloth in two and stuffed the two ports. No more boomy bass. But don?t get me wrong these are great speakers for their price, but I just like my sound perfect. I?m making it sound like they?re bad. Not true. So in conclusion, These are good speakers for a casual listener, or a kid/teen. They are better if you listen to music with not a lot of beat, but if you do its not really that bad. They match nice with computers, and have convenient controls, and the wires are very easy to set up, all color coded. Such tall desktop speakers but they only have 1 2 ½? speaker, which does the job exceptionally well. They play decently loud also. And for whoever is wondering THEY ARE 40 WATTS ALTOGETHER, THE 68 WATTS IS THE MAXIMUM POWER. That means they can put out 68 watts but they usually put out 40. I give 3 out of 5 in sound.
